About Marylou Lymer Memorial Charity Hockey Tournaments and Other Fundraising Events
Marylou Lymer Memorial Charity Hockey Tournaments and other fundraising events are held in honor of Marylou Lymer, a mother and grandmother, who courageously battled breast cancer for seven years, passing away on April 1, 2010. In 2009, she helped establish an annual hockey tournament in her hometown of Gibsons, British Columbia to raise funds to assist charities dedicated to the fight against cancer. Her dream was to see other communities utilize friends, family, and hockey as a basis for fundraising dedicated primarily to fighting breast cancer. Since March 2009, events held in her honor have raised over $85,000.

Participating hockey players are committing to raise a minimum of $250 in sponsor pledges to participate. All net proceeds will be donated to the Canadian Cancer Society and the American Cancer Society in the fight against breast cancer, and the Kris Perani Hockey Foundation, whose goal is to provide hockey players in need with financial assistance to remain playing minor hockey. Our 4-team, co-ed hockey tournament is scheduled for Saturday, August 11, 2012.
